2009 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Review The 2009 Mercedes-Benz M-Class gets slightly freshened styling, a new diesel powerplant, and a new rear-drive model. The M-Class seats five. It comes in four models. The ML350 has a 268-hp 3.5-liter V6. The new ML320 BlueTEC has a 210-hp 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 that\'s available in all 50 states. The ML550 has a 382-hp 5.5-liter V8. Topping the linAe is the high-performance ML63 with its 503-hp 6.2-liter V8. Walkaround All M-Class models have a 7-speed automatic transmission and are offered with all-wheel drive. New for 2009 is a rear-drive ML350. Maximum towing capacity is 7200 lb. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front and rear side airbags, and curtain side airbags. The M-Class gets a visual revamp with a new front bumper and headlights, a new lower ribbed grille, fog lamps and more chrome trim. Benz says the look will give it a stronger face for the 2009 model year. It also gets a refreshed rear end, with dual exhausts, a reshaped bumper and skid plates. And inside the Benz SUV there are reupholstered doors, lumbar for the driver seat, a new steering wheel, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity. All will have a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, wood interior trim, and Mercedes\' Tele Aid assistance system. An optional harmon kardon Logic7 audio system and rear-seat entertainment system have been added, along with voice recognition. Summary For 2009, M-Class models receive Mercedes\' PRE-SAFE safety system that senses an impending collision and tightens the seatbelts and moves the front passenger seat to a safer position. PRE-SAFE also closes an open sunroof if a rollover is detected. The ML63 has 20-inch wheels, and wheel diameter on all other models is 19 inches. The ML320 has run-flat tires. Among features standard on the ML63 and optional on other models are leather upholstery, navigation system, rearview camera, and power liftgate. DVD entertainment is also available, along with a newly available audio unit with voice control that combines a wireless cell phone link and 6-disc CD/DVD changer. The new audio unit has optional features such as a navigation system with real-time traffic updates, HD radio, MP3 connectivity, and a hard drive that can store 4 gigabytes of digital music files.
